Basic info:
  • you need a valid driver's licence and an insurance policy certificate in order to enter and drive in Croatia
  • vehicles drive on the right side in Croatia
  • fastening the seat belt is mandatory
  • use of cell phones is forbidden during driving
  • allowed level of alcohol in blood is 0.5 ‰
  • if a traffic accident occurs, it has to be reported to the police on phone number 92


Petrol stations:

  • working hours are from 7 a.m. to 7 or 8 p.m. every day; in the summer months until 10 p.m.
  • some petrol stations in larger towns and main roads are open 24 hours a day.
  • lead-free petrol is marked in green and can be acquired at all petrol stations
  • petrol station sell: Eurosuper 95, Super 95, Super 98, Super plus 98, Euro Diesel, Diesel, larger town have autogas as well

Toll:

  • toll is charged at motorways, three-lane roads and bridges

Maximum speed allowed:

  • in inhabited areas 50 km/h (31 mph)
  • outside inhabited areas 80 km/h (50 mph)
  • on roads for traffic by motor vehicles only 110 km/h (68.35 mph)
  • on motorways 130 km/h (80 mph)
  • motor vehicles with a trailer 80 km/h (50 mph)
  • buses and buses with light trailers 80 km/h (50 mph)
  • if the road is wet, reduce and adjust the speed of the vehicle

- road conditions and ferry traffic on the Adriatic

- the amount of fees for motorway traffic in Croatia and abroad

- ban of operation of specific vehicle category in Croatia

- telephone numbers of foreign auto clubs

- advices regarding the choice of traffic routes


  • Information centre is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. You can also get the necessary information of road conditions on local radio stations
